Air Bottle (No
25 pg 1 oxy)
Used
in many RAF Aircraft for operating the pneumatic systems for
guns and undercarriage etc. The Gun button of early
Spitfires and Hurricanes were simply air valves, when
depressed they allowed air stored in the bottle (supplied by
the compressor on the Merlin) to flow to the guns making
them fire. The flaps of the Spitfire were also lowered using
air.

Battle of Britain dated Luftwaffe Oxygen Regulator FL 30470 (No
16 pg1 oxy)
An October
1940 dated Oxygen Regulator as used in the JU88, Do17, He111
and numerous other German aircraft.
Although
no doubt taken from a downed aircraft the entire piece is in
very good condition, the only point of note being one
missing section of Perspex inspection window which allows
the user to check the inflation of the rubber bag.
Still
mounted on it’s side wall fitting plate it appears complete
with only the oxygen inlet and outlet tubes removed. The
Oxygen flow gauge (FL 30534) is undamaged and the flow
control valves operates perfectly.
The data
plate is clear and shows a manufacturing date of October
1940 and part number FL30470.

BF 109 Luftwaffe Oxygen Valve (No

This is an
oxygen valve purchased on our trip to
Arnhem
it was taken from a BF 109 but
I believe they were also used in other German wartime
fighters as we have another taken from a FW 190 also used in
the ME 262 . Fitted on the RHS of the cockpit and allowed
the pilot to control the flow of oxygen from the main oxygen
tank to the oxygen regulator .In nice
original condition. It is slightly different to the one
taken from the FW 190 and appears to be missing the knob .

Luftwaffe Air Bottle Dated 1939 (No
8 pg1 oxy)
This is a rare Luftwaffe
air bottle with a nice early 1939 Battle of France
date. Very nicely marked and dated.
I have been told this was
fitted in the BF 109 but so far have not found any
information on it.
I do not think its oxygen for aircraft as
they were a different design, it could be the emergency blow
down bottle for the undercarriage. The Spitfire has a similar
sized bottle for emergency use.
It is safe to send by
airmail as it has a hole drilled in it and cannot be
pressurized.

Oxygen Bottle T-Piece (No 7
pg 1 oxy)
Here we have the T-Piece for an oxygen bottle in the Finnish
Made Valmet Vihuri trainer. This would have been inserted
into the top of the oxygen bottle.
The Vihuri aircraft became the most-used aircraft in FAF
service by the mid-1950s. The aircraft was subject to many
accidents, and the press raised a lot of concerns about
these. The safety of the Vihuri even became a matter for the
government. In May 1959, the aircraft was permanently
grounded after the death of the Finnish prime minister's son
in the aircraft type. Attempts were made to sell the
aircraft to Tunisia, without success.
After the
inspection, it became apparent that the type and its design
was sound; most of the accidents were due to pilots' often
grave flight-regulations violations, and the fact all
airframes were well worn by the end of the 1950s. The other
problem was the engines. The engines used, Tampella Mercury,
were recycled engines of wartime Bristol Blenheim bombers,
which were already thoroughly worn out. The planes were sold
for scrap to Moser OY. One airframe, VH-18, survives in
the Central Finland Aviation Museum, and the fore fuselage
of another, VH-25, is being restored. The canopies of the
scrapped aircraft remain today as the roof windows of
the Kuusakoski metal-recycling plant in Espoo.
There was only a
total of 51 Vihuri's built in 3 different series

Hawker Hurricane oxygen cradle (page1 oxy)

Pilot's oxygen bottle
cradle from Hawker Hurricane Z2505
- an important piece of
his kit that would have mounted behind the pilot's seat. In
relic condition (three bolts are holding it together for the
photo where the original rivets have failed) this item could
be improved with some TLC and make a fascinating exhibit,
especially if you have a bottle to put in it! Hawker
Aircraft stamps are present on the cradle.
Hurricane Z2505 was
flown by Squadron Leader Foit Emil when it caught fire and
crashed on a
training flight over Loch Oich lake on 31st of August 1941.

BF109e Oxygen Regulator (pg1 oxy)
Here we have
a Oxygen Regulator as used in the BF109. This is in good
original condition with no significant damage.
It is dated
1940 in two different places so it was probably used during the Battle of Britain.
This
is a Type 10-20B with reference number FL 30402 and was
manufactured by Dragerwerk, Lubeck
By far the most-produced fighter
ever (over 33,000 estimated), the Bf 109 served actively in
various air forces around the world from the mid-1930s until
the mid-1950s. Small, agile, and well-armed, it proved a
serious weapon in the hands of an experienced pilot.
Perhaps the most noteworthy of
the many versions of the Bf 109 was the Bf 109E, which ruled
the skies over Europe until mid-1940 when it first
encountered the Supermarine Spitfire

having a solid brass tap.
