Boost gauges

RAF Wartime Boost gauges are generic instruments. The aircraft shown in our adds did use the Boost gauges shown but they may of coarse been used in a different type of aircraft with matching performance for that date. If you are not sure what Boost you require then please contact us and I will do my best to advise you on the most suitable purchase. The boost gauges are described as accurately as possible but would require a full inspection before being used for flying and all items are sold as such. The majority of WWII aero engines were supercharged and the boost gauge measure's the amount of boost being applied to the engine. Different settings for take off and combat are often listed in the pilots notes you can find pilots notes in the Pilot Equipment section link here.

There were in general a limited number of boost gauges used during WWII starting with 8Lb 16Lb 20Llb 24Llb and 32 Lb.

MK IIA Pre war Boost gauge (Instruments page 4 Boost gauge 1)

This is an extremely rare pre war boost gauges used in the 1930s Bi Planes and the very early production Spitfires and Hurricanes. made by Negretta & Zambra

It is a much larger diameter than the standard boost gauge and MK I Spitfire panels often have a plate fitted to reduce the hole size and allow the fitting of the smaller newer standard size gauge.
